For the seventh consecutive time in its history, Bulgaria will host the Sofia Open 2022 tournament on the calendar of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP).

The Association of Tennis Professionals was established in 1972 with the aim of protecting the interests of professional tennis players. However, it was only in 1990 that the association started organizing the ATP Tour, which is an international chain of tennis tournaments for men.

This year the tournament will be held from September 25 to October 2 in the “Arena Armeets Sofia” sports hall. It is expected that the hall will fill its entire capacity, exceeding 12,000 people. Tennis fans are holding their breath for this year’s event and are happy to once again be able to watch the fierce competition live and feel the true spirit of the game. As you know, in recent years Sofia Open was deprived of its audience due to the pandemic measures. It is our great happiness that we will once again have the opportunity to welcome the elite of world tennis and watch how they compete for the title. The competition will be of the ATP 250 category, with the winner having the privilege of adding 250 points to his score in the world ranking.
This year, the participants are expected to be 22 in number. The return of Grigor Dimitrov is the hit of this year’s competition. None of us will forget the pride he brought to Bulgaria in 2017 when he won the ATP title on home soil. This is a moment that will remain forever sealed in Bulgarian history and in our hearts.
We are privileged that this sporting event takes place in Bulgaria. Thanks to this fact, our country will once again have the opportunity to show its beauty to the world. Still, this tournament is frantically awaited by millions of people from all over the world.
