Sunny Beach resort is a modern and young people friendly summer resort on the South coast of Black Sea. It’s 35 km away from Bourgas and 90 km away from Varna, so it can be accessed by the both airports. There are regular bus lines from the major cities in the country, but there’s no rail station. In the beginning the idea of the resort was a place for a rest, but with time Sunny Beach became a popular place for investments. That’s why at this point the resort has lost its quietness and calmness and became a true party center. Its bay is 8 km long and confines with the small summer village of St. Vlas and the antique city of Nessebar. The resort is famous for its dunes, once spread all over the resort but now the can be seen only at the North parts of it. What’s worth seeing?


A place for a trip near Sunny Beach is the city of Nessebar, only 3 km away. Nessabar has a modern part with small hotels and rooms to rent, and an old part. The old Nessebar is located on an island that was then connected to the land by an isthmus built only with man power. The most impressive thing about Nessebar is its huge number of churches that date from the Byzantine Empire to the Ottoman rule.

The visitors of Sunny Beach can consider visiting some major cities such as Bourgas and Varna, where they can enjoy vast seaside parks, luxurious malls. A good way to spend nice time is to visit the near resort towns like Kiten, Banya, Aheloy, Primorsko, Diuni, Ravda,

Another historical site that can be visited within one day is the town of Zheravna, located in the Eastern Balkan Mountains. It has more than 200 wooden houses that date from the Bulgarian Revival period and they make the city an architectural reserve.

The resort offers cruises, instructors in water skiing, surfing, para-sailing, diving, hang-gliding, wind-surf,and yachting. The mini-golf course and volleyball playgrounds are open to everyone who wishes to have fun. The resort has tennis schools and tournaments are often organized. Partners and instructors are easy to find not only for tennis, but also for ping-pong. There’s also a horse-riding school from where experienced riders can take a guide and then ramble the parks.

Even if Sunny Beach doesn’t organize any festivals itself, it’s still in the centre of the party. Since it’s located almost at the middle of the Black Sea coast, the residents at Sunny Beach can choose which festivals of those around them to visit.

An International Sailing Regatta is held every year in July at the Nessebar bay. In Pomorie in August there’s Festival dedicated to the Days of the Wine. In Primorsko is held the annual National Off-road Competition 4x4.

In Kavarna and Bourgas there are annual music festivals – Kavarna Rock Fest and Spirit of Bourgas, both of them notorious of the singers and bands they had invited. Cacao Beach on the other hand is hosting some of the biggest names in the techno and trance music field.
