Nicholas continued his childhood researches in the field of geology, stratigraphy, and crystallography into his way of life. Steno visited many countries including the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain where he met with famous scientists and physicians.
Thomas Bartholin was the one who directed him to the anatomy and years later Nicolas Steno began working as a pathologist. Using the geometry he shown that when a muscle shortens, it changesits shape, but in no case volume.
His knowledge in the field of geology did help him to discover that through the earth’s crust can be understood Earth’s history. In 1987 he was proclaimed by the Catholic Church for the Blessed (guy before he became a saint), thanks to his scientific contributions.
