Day of the National leaders

Dedicated to the work of scholars, educators, national liberation fighters who saved the spiritual and moral values ​​of the Bulgarian nation throughout the ages.

Among them are the names of: Yoasaf Bdinski, Grigoriy Tsamblak, Constantine Kostenechki, Vladislav Grammatic, father Peyo, Matey Grammatic, St. Ivan Rilski, Neophyte Bozveli, the Miladinovi brothers – Dimitar and Konstantin , Georgi Sava Rakovski, Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, Ivan Vazov, Stefan Karadja, Hadji Dimitar, Karavelov, Dobri Chintulov and hundreds of supporters of the Bulgarian National consciousness.

First day of National Leaders is celebrated in 1909 in Plovdiv. On November 1, 1923 by decree of Tsar Boris III this day was declared a national holiday in the memory of the deserving Bulgarians. In 1945 it was banned, but the celebration is restored by the 36th National Assembly on October 28, 1992, when the first official Day of National Leaders is pronounced and it was declared as a day off for all the bulgarian schools and universities.
